DSA and VOSA have merged to become Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

DSA and VOSA have merged to become Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.  The merger is because of a Government reform looking at how to improve efficiency of motoring services agencies.

The DVSA has 4,000 staff and now deals with a number of motoring services.  These include driving tests, goods and passenger vehicle testing, operating licensing and MoTs.

This year the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agencythey will conduct 1.5 million Theory Tests and 1.6 million Practical Driving Tests.  It will be responsible for 28 million MoT Tests and will carry out 137,000 roadside inspections.  It will issue 87,000 operator licences and also test and inspect 790,000 commercial vehicles.

It is said that the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency will now be more efficient, modern and cost effective.  The merger will also explore other ways of providing innovative, convenient services.
